Trek To Chopta - Tungnath & Chandrashila Summit (4100 Mt.)
Chandrasheela Summit is a rock face above the temple of Tungnath, the highest of all the temples in the Himalayas. It is a short but rigorous hike beyond the temple. The Chandrasheela Summit affords the most beautiful view of the Nandadevi, Trishul, Kedarpeak and Chaukhamba peaks. If the sky is clear you feel that you are sitting in a sea of mountains. The oak forest through which you trek to the summit abounds in wild life especially foxes, peasants, musk-deer and leopards. Nonetheless, it is safe, as the animals keep away from the trail. Day 1 :Haridwar/Rishikesh - Chopta
Arrive Haridwar/Rishikesh than start driving to reach Chopta. which is one of the most
beautiful spot in this part of the Himalaya passing through lush green
landscapes strecheing almost 40 kms. Apart of humans it is also inhabitate by
rare Himalayan species like the Snow Leapord,Musk Deer, Snow Fox,Monal etc. Put
up camp on arrival and relax in the evening.
Day 2 : Chopta - Devaria Tal
Morning after breakfast drive to Sari Village and then trek to Devaria Tal.
Devria Tal is one of the finest Himalayan lakes. On arrival enjoy the panoramic
view of greater Himalayan range view of Mt Chaukhamba, Kedarnath, Bhrigupanth
etc. Explore the surrounding area and later trek down to Sari and drive back to
Chopta for overnight stay at hotel.
Day 3 : Chopta
Morning after breakfast start early trek to the temple of Tungnath and
Chandrashila. Tungnath is one of the highest Shiva temples in Garhwal. Further
proceed to Chandrashilla peak. The summit of the Chandrashilla peak provides a
breathtaking 360 degree view of Himalayan Peaks.
Day 4 : Chopta - Rishikesh
Morning after breakfast drive down to Rishikesh, En route visit to confluence of
River Alaknanda and Mandakini at Rudraprayag.than after proceed to Rishikesh for the onward destinations.
How to reach Haridwar/Rishikesh
By Air :- The Nearest Airport is Jolly grand 25 km away from Dehuradun.Daily flight operates to and from Delhi, which is the nearest international airport. Delhi is connected by air to all the major Indian cities like: Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata etc.
By Rail :- Haridwar is a major railhead in the northern railways and is connected to major cities like Delhi, Dehradun, Ujjain, Kolkata, Gorakhpur, and so on. Some of the trains that pass Haridwar are Upasana Express, Janashatabdi Express, Uttaranchal Express, Ujjain Express etc.
By Road :- The NH 54 passes through the city of Haridwar. The highway is connected to Delhi, Dehradun, Nainital and other major cities within the state and outside. Its around 300 km from Delhi.
