How to Reach Kedarnath from Hyderabad

1. By Air
The quickest and most convenient way to reach Kedarnath is by air. However, there are no direct flights to Kedarnath since it doesn’t have an airport. The nearest airport is in Dehradun.
Steps:
- Flight from Hyderabad to Dehradun: Book a direct flight from Hyderabad (HYD) to Dehradun (DED). The flight duration is around 2.5 hours and the fare typically ranges between INR 7,000 to INR 8,000 for economy class.
- Dehradun to Kedarnath: From Dehradun, you can take a helicopter ride (45 minutes) or travel by road to Sonprayag (240 km). From there, you’ll need to travel to Gaurikund, the base camp for the Kedarnath trek (15 km). Alternatively, you can choose a helicopter package that will fly you directly to Kedarnath.
2. By Train
Traveling by train is an affordable and comfortable option for many pilgrims.
Steps:
- Hyderabad to Delhi: Book a train ticket from Hyderabad to Delhi. The journey may take between 28 to 30 hours, depending on the train. You can opt for sleeper class or AC classes, depending on your budget.
- Delhi to Haridwar: From Delhi, take a train to Haridwar (approximately 6-7 hours).
- Haridwar to Kedarnath: After reaching Haridwar, you can take a taxi or a shared cab to Guptkashi, and then continue by road to Sonprayag and Gaurikund. The trek to Kedarnath starts from Gaurikund.

- Hyderabad to Delhi: You can take a bus from Hyderabad to Delhi (approximately 1,500 km) and then proceed to Haridwar.
- Haridwar to Kedarnath: From Haridwar, you can either drive or take a bus to Sonprayag, and then trek to Kedarnath.
Best Time to Visit Kedarnath
The ideal time to visit Kedarnath is between May and October, as the weather is favorable for travel during these months. The winter season from November to April is harsh and the Kedarnath Temple remains closed due to heavy snow and freezing temperatures.
