Mount Menthosa (6440 meters) is the 2nd highest summit in the Lahaul-Spiti Province of the State of Himachal Pradesh in northern India. It was first climbed in 1970 by a British service team led by Capt. S. Bembrose.

Route:  Manali (2004 M) – Udaipur (2745 M) Urgos (3250 M) –Base Camp (4000 M) – Summit (6440) – Base camp – Udaipur – Manali

Program

Day 01: Arrive Manali (2050M)

Arrive at Manali and meet the Himalayan Holiday Trek leader. Later in the afternoon, an equipment check and a briefing about the upcoming program.

Meal: Dinner Only

Day 02: Manali – Udaipur (2745 M) Drive 110 Km

Morning after breakfast, drive to Udaipur via the infamous Atal Tunnel. Another side of this tunnel means the forbidden land of Lahaul, where you encounter a different culture and landscape. Reach Udaipur. Overnight in a hotel or camp.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner     

Day 03:  Udaipur - Tingrit - Urgos (3250 M) Drive 23 Km 

The drive to this small distance is exciting not only with a feeling of approaching towards the base camp, but a different nature makes the journey a learning experience. This is called Miyar Valley, which has a rich cultural heritage, and surely your guide will be narrating a wonderful story related to this valley during this drive. Reach Urgos, and we move towards the camp for the night. This will be the time to meet your cook, kitchen helper, porters, and, of course, the trekking guide who will drop you off at the base camp tomorrow.

Day 04: Urgos – Base Camp (4000 M)  Trek 7 Km

In the morning, pack your bags and get ready to trek up to Basecamp. The 7-kilometer hike from Urgos to Menthosa Base Camp is a terrific hike—not too difficult yet steep enough to be a good workout.  With outstanding views of the surrounding peaks, all over 3,800 meters, of course, the trek gives a lot back to mind. It is sure that in the mountains, the views only get prettier as you go higher. The last 1000 meters’ elevation will be tough to climb, but you finally reach the base camp, situated at around 4000 meters.

Day 05-17: Base Camp – Summit – Base Camp - Climbing

The next 11 days are for acclimatization, establishing higher camps, attempting the summit of Mt. Menthosa, and returning to base camp.

Day 18: Base Camp - Urgos – Udaipur (2745 M)Trek and Drive

After breakfast, wind up the base camp and trek down to reach Urgos. From Urgos, drive to Udaipur. Overnight stay in a hotel or tent in Udaipur.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Day 19: Udaipur - Manali                                          

In the morning, after breakfast, drive back to Manali. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel for an overnight stay.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Day 20: Manali

Morning after breakfast checkout from the hotel and continue onward journey.
