ndrahar pass is a high altitude pass in Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas. The trek starts from Mcleodganj. The pass is more than 4300 meters high and in winter (November to May) is covered by snow totally. The snow can reach more than a meter deep and in times the depth can be more than the chest.

About Indrahar pass Trek

Indrahar pass trek is an offbeat and splendid trek which goes via Triund. Most of the trekkers or travelers goes stops at Triund and ends their trekking with a beautiful view of Kangra Valley. But kangra valley has much more to offer beyond Triund and this can be understood if you go for Indrahar Pass Trek. The trek to Triund is quite easy and simple yet rewarding. Through a mixed forests of Deodar, Oak and Rhododendron you reach Gallu devi temple and then Triund hilltop. on the way you cross Guna pani which is a famous campsite for different other treks in Himachal Pradesh

Next day, on 2nd day of Indrahar pass trek package, you start trek from Triund and reach Laka Got. It is famous among the shepherds for staying at night in temporary staying arrangement under the beautiful himalayan sky. Himalayan treks are very attractive all over the world for the availability of this kind of camping places. Laka Got is just around a small glacier which gives you your first encounter with glaciers before reaching the pass.

From Laka Got our aim is to reach to Indrahar pass as early as possible and again come back to Laka for night stay. If you are trekking in April-May then Indrahar pass trek is a full snow trek for you and if you are trekking  in September to November then its a sprawling green Himalayan trek passing through beautiful meadows. The weather in this region of Himalaya changes very rapidly. So we start early, finish Indrahar Pass Trek final stretch within 3-4 hours and come back from the pass to Laka

From Laka descend back to Triund and finally reach to Mcleodganj. Its a descend so easily we can cover approx. 16 km in one day. Once back to Triund, the Indrahar pass trek package is over

Day 1 : Mcleodganj to Triund Trek via Galu (9 Kms/ 5‐6 Hours/2975 Meters)

Day 2 : Triund to Laka Got Trek (07 Kms/6‐7 Hours/3700 Meters)

Day 3 : Laka Got to Indrahar Pass Trek – back to Laka Got (12 Kms/8‐9 Hours/4300 Meters)

Day 4 : Laka Got ‐ Mcleodganj Trek (15 Kms/6‐7 Hours)

Q-1: Suggest me indrahar pass trek best time?

Ans: Best time for Indrahar pass trek is June to October. November onward the pass faces heavy snowfall which makes the trek pretty difficult. December onward it becomes near impossible to trek to Indrahar pass. At places you may find chest deep snow which is impossible to cover for a normal trekker.

October can be the best time for this trek. May is a bit dicey when snow is still there. In June the snow starts to vanish making the pass accessible.

Q-2: Possible indrahar pass itinerary?

Ans: Best possible itinerary for trekking to Indrahar pass is the one stated above. Also, one can change the camping points. For an example instead of Triund hilltop camp at Dharamkot, instead of Laka camp at Lahesh cave etc.

Ans: The trek is possible but will be difficult as a good amount of snow will be there. you have to be physically fit and a seasoned trekker for this trek in November.
